From a very young age I have used my body as an expressive tool. As a photographer that specializes in self-portraits, my relationship to my body has changed over time. I now look at myself with the awareness of being seen, exploring the “I” that is both fiction and non-fiction.
Veronika Marquez
Veronika is a new media artist working in photography, video, and performance. Her work utilizes life experiences from her past, where fantasy and reality are interwoven. She enjoys her work process, and seeks constant play and creativity without prejudice, softening issues that at times prove challenging for society.
Using her body as a fundamental center in her work, Veronika calls to question realities we assume are valid. She interacts with her own body and her multiple identities in the place where she resides.
Veronika is known as an international artist who develops unique projects that disrupt pre-established boundaries, making her an exemplary figure in contemporary visual art.
Born in Uruguay, Veronika is based in Spain, where she remains active and open to new possibilities. She is represented by Galería Cero (Spain), and has participated in several events, among the most relevant: Museum Da2, My Name is Lolita Art, Metrópolis/Madatac (Spain), Milim Gallery (England), Concoran Gallery, Stephen Cohen Gallery (USA), National Museum of Visual Art (Uruguay),
In 2012, she won the Photography Book Award, bestowed by CDF.
Desde muy joven he utilizado mi cuerpo como una herramienta de trabajo. Como fotógrafa me especialicé en el autorretrato. Mi relación con mi cuerpo ha cambiado con el tiempo. Ahora me veo a mí misma con la conciencia de ser mirada, y explorando el “Yo”, entre ficción y realidad.

Veronika trabaja con new media, fotografía, video y performance. En su trabajo utiliza vivencias de su pasado, donde la fantasía y la realidad se entrelazan. Disfruta del proceso de trabajo y sin prejuicios, buscando el juego constante y la creatividad, endulzando temas que resultan un reto para la sociedad.
Usando su cuerpo como centro fundamental en su obra, Veronika llama a cuestionar realidades que tenemos como válidas. Ella interactúa con su propio cuerpo y con sus múltiples identidades en el lugar que habita.
Veronika es conocida como un artista internacional que desarrolla proyectos únicos que alteran los límites pre-establecidos, haciendo de ella una figura ejemplar en el panorama visual contemporáneo.
Nacida en Uruguay, Veronika con base en España, se mantiene activa y abierta a nuevas posibilidades. Está representada por la Galería Cero (España), y ha participado en diversos exposiciones entre las más importantes destacan: Museum Da2 y Metrópolis/Madatac, My Name is Lolita Art (España), Milim Gallery (England), Concoran Gallery Stephen Cohen Gallery (Usa), Museo Nacional de Artes Visuales (Uruguay).
En 2012 , ganó el Premio del Libro de Fotografía, otorgado por CDF.
